In a school there was a chaos everywhere and the students didn't obey school rules and regulations. Then one day a new teacher entered the school, he was baffled at the state of lawlessness in the school. So, he decided on a plan and called all the students together.
"Now" the teacher began, "I want you all to set rules and the punishment anyone who breaks the rules will receive" The students were happy; they set the rules and punishment for breaking it. Surprisingly, all the students obeyed the rules until one fateful Monday morning when a boy's lunch disappeared.
Investigations were carried out and they found out that it was one skinny boy called ‘David’ in the class that ate the food. As set by the students; the punishment for the theft was twelve strokes of cane on the bare back.
The teacher ordered the boy to remove his jacket, when he did, everyone saw how skinny he was. The boy broke down in tears and cried, "Please, forgive me, I am from a poor home, i haven't eaten for 2 days now, i don't have parent, my guardian are poor. I am sorry, I am sorry please forgive me"
Everyone was sympathetic but the rule had been broken, so the punishment needed to be meted out. Then the teacher asked "Who will act as a substitute for him or should i go ahead and flog him.
Suddenly the boy whose food was eaten arose, came-fort and said he would act as a substitute and he was flogged. Everyone was in tears and the skinny boy came and thanked the big boy and said "You helped me even though I stole from you, Thank You" (Let Stop Here].
Do you know that Jesus Christ is your substitute every time you commit sin and your reason to be thankful? Although, worldliness is what makes sin look normal in any age and righteousness seem weird but whenever you acknowledge your mistakes, look up to heaven and say "Father, I have sin against you. Please father forgives me" Afterward; bury your shame and pride by giving him thanks; at least for not given you unto reprobate mind or sealing-off your conscience; definitely reconciliation will be certain.
In this act; God will defend the death of his son Jesus Christ by the act of forgiveness because he substitute your guilt, sorrow, pains and took your punishment. Have you thanked him today, just as that skinny little boy thanked the big boy? If not; then what are you waiting for?
Please don't see yourself as been righteous because if God shall mark iniquity; my beloved you can't escape because all the days of a man is full of temptations. Psalm 130:3 If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
